Continuing Medical Education

The academy adheres to the principle of "science and education revitalize institutes and education priority" and attaches great importance to the continuing education of medical staff. In 1991, the academy held the education work conference and implemented the municipal government regulations on employee education. It established an education leading group for each department according to the continuing education registration system and set up special staff to manage the education work. In 1995, it reformulated the implementation rules of continuing education in accordance with the relevant regulations of continuing medicine education. In 1996, the academy organized a national course on diagnosis, treatment and progress of neurological diseases, a course on neuropathology, and a municipal course on diagnosis, treatment and progress of cardiovascular diseases for the first time. In 1999, it was rated as "Advanced Unit of Beijing Health System in Continuing Education". In December 2003, Department of Neurology was approved by the former Ministry of Health as the national base (pilot) for continuing medical education and trained the technical backbone neurologists from provinces and cities in the country. In 2004, the academy introduced the world’s advanced medical simulation training system developed by Medical Education Technologies, Inc.(METI) -- Human Patient Simulator® (HPS). It organized some national continuing education projects such as the progress and operation specifications of emergency resuscitation, basis and progress of endoscopic surgery, training of endoscopic skills in urology, and new progress of mechanical ventilation to explore the application of simulated medicine education in continuing medicine education. In 2005, it was awarded the title of "Advanced Unit of Continuing Medicine Education in Beijing Health System". Since 2014, Neurosurgery Department has held the international continuing education training courses such as the training course of diagnosis and treatment technology and management of cerebrovascular diseases in developing countries and the training course of minimally invasive neurosurgical technology and management, which are set up twice a year. In 2016, the academy won the first place in the overall score of the third-grade medical and health institutions in the evaluation of continuing medical education situation during the 12th five-year plan period of the municipal health and family planning commission.

Relying on the strong medical teaching resources and talent advantages in neuroscience and geriatrics, the academy has completed various continuing education projects with high quality every year and the rate of execution is 100%. In 2018, 85 national-level education projects and 25 city-level education medical projects were approved, ranking the top in Beijing.

In short, the academy will be adhering to the school motto “To heal the wounded and rescue the dying with professionalism and devotion to health science” and the concept of “To be righteous and innovative, to combine knowing and doing”. It will shoulder the responsibility of training the first-class medical talents for the health development in the new era and strive for building the academy into the "domestic first-class, internationally-known modern medical center with the satisfaction of the people".
